Small Place, Packed with Big Flavor

Although I have been to DC a few times, it’s always fun stumbling upon new places to eat. After spending a few hours at the new International Spy Museum, I worked up an appetite. Immediately after stepping outside, the air smelled of old bay; either crabs, fries or a combination, my hunger was definitely intensified! I knew one thing for sure, I wanted seafood and I wanted it THEN and THERE!

With a quick google search and skimming reviews, Brine had my name written all over it. Just a 12 minute drive from the museum, Brine is tuckered between 2 other businesses. When I approached the door entering into the tiny building, I had the sense I was back in Seattle; fresh oysters were beautifully displayed on ice and a young gentlemen was working the oyster bar.

The bar area is when you first walk in, it’s a little tight but spaced appropriately for a Covid dining experience. It wasn't until I got up to find the toilet that I was shocked to see the space of the dining for the rest of the restaurant.

After I washed my hands and looked over the menu, I was ready to order within seconds. Everything sounded amazing, but let's be honest, I wanted the juicy oysters I saw plastered over the internet from my google search. When ordering I became slightly distracted from attire of the staff; the waiters and staff were dressed cute With plaid and coral pants. Their attire reminded me of my days working for Abercrombie circa 2007. After a quick moment of nostalgia passed, I placed my order:

1/2 Dozen Bluepoint Oysters

1/2 Dozen Point Look Out Oysters

1/2 Dozen (or dozen, I can't recall) Peel N' Eat (HOT) Shrimp

Provencal Mussels

*Not on the menu but recommended by the bar tender, Lobster Risotto

Moscow Mule (served in a glass, not a mule cup so don't be too disappointed)

Highly recommend if you go on a Saturday night to try the lobster risotto. Packed full of flavor, great portion and savory.... you will not be disappointed!
