Tik Tok Made Me Do It: Lylo Swim Club

In the Phoenix area? Looking for a Sunday Funday idea? Well that is exactly how stumbling upon Lylo Swim Club happened. With temperatures reaching more than 110 degrees in Phoenix this week, lounging by the pool and having drinks sounded like the perfect part 2 to Sunday Brunch.

Less than 2 miles away from Uptown, Lylo Swim Club is nestled right outside the Rise Uptown Hotel.

Parking was extremely easy with shaded spots due to the trees outdoors. I know, it may sound silly, but in the Phoenix Sun and a black on black Jeep, any shade is appreciated.

As we approached the hostess stand, a lady asked if we had reservations. My friend stated that we didn't, but found this place on TikTok. Less than enthusiastic, the hostess, or manager, I am not sure, stated that they require reservations but will "let us in this time, but it is usually busy" and they would not be able to accommadate without a reservation- typically. I asked if we just need to go online to make a reservation, in which she stated, "No, none are available." With our thoughts to ourselves, we graciously paid the $25 entrance fee and received our wristbands.

The bar area itself is rather large, but the pool area, given that it is for the hotel, was rather small, however it did not feel crowded throughout our afternoon stay. Finding young chairs were easy, there were plenty of beach towels available, and that bathrooms were clean. For being a "busy Sunday", there were no more than 8 to 10 parties. Mostly averaging about 4 people per group.

Anyway, the fun stuff! What caught our attention to try Lylo was what they call the "Dole Whipped". It is like Rita's, but for adults. The perfect blend of Pineapple to Rum. 8/10 recommend.

Next up, Mr. Hendricks! 10/10! The perfect combination of cucumber, mint and lime - refreshing on a hot day.

Of course with drinks, comes food. The Togarrashi Fries were spicy, so if you enjoy a kick, you would enjoy these. They top the fries with this mayo sauce, so make sure you enjoy mayo and scallions too. 5/10 in my opinion.

Last but not least, the bucket of chicken. If you do not like citrus, I would stay clear of the chicken because they top it with lemon. The seasoning they use is not quite season salt, not quite old bay, and not necessarily salt and pepper. I have no idea what seasoning they use, but it is an acquired taste. I think I enjoyed the chicken more than the fries because it came with a Cole slaw.

Overall, thank you TikTok for a new experience. Although the first impression from our lovely hostess started me off with a bad taste, the drinks made it worth while.
