One morning, during my summer break, I was laying down casually scrolling down TikTok. A very animated young lady was holding this book, Verity, and exclaimed how shocking and thrilling of a read it was. I must admit, I have never heard of the author Colleen Hoover, but I quickly jumped up and headed to the bookstore. When I walked in, Verity was on the first table, along with several other Hoover books. My goodness, I guess I am not as much as an avid reader as I thought. So, I grabbed Verity and It Ends With Us, because clearly I have some catching up to do...

My Initial Thoughts

I began reading around 9pm one night, 30 minutes past my bedtime. With that being said, I only read the first 2 pages. Hmmm, this is an interesting way to catch the readers attention. Without spoiling the beginning, I knew right away this story would be a bit of stretch. When I think of thriller, my mind goes straight to Stephen King. This is not that kind of thriller friends. The next day, I ended up starting from the beginning and reading until chapter 14. Colleen Hoover has a great writing style and I enjoyed the 2 books in one.

3.8/5 Stars

Hoover created a fascinating story line that will keep readers turning the page, however, not so much at the edge of your seat. I have read other reviews where readers had "What the heck" moments, but when it came to those portions of her story, I didn't get that response. Instead, I found myself questioning and sometimes giving justification for Verity. I didn't want to see her as a villain for some reason. When she described her kids, some moments I laughed at how insane she was. There was a sense of sarcasm and dark humor; the question is, was it intentional? Or am that twisted myself?
